Sam vive a North London; sedici anni e una passione grande, come tutti i suoi coetanei: lo skateboard. E l’Eroe, il suo Eroe, è Tony Hawk, il più grande skater del mondo. Lui lo adora, ha il suo poster in camera, gli parla, si confronta con lui. E a chi se non al proprio eroe si possono raccontare le paure, le ansie, i problemi? Forse a una mamma come quella di Sam, giovane, carina, comprensiva, che ha conquistato anche gli amici del figlio. Del resto lei è una mamma davvero speciale e molto vicina al figlio, visto che lo ha avuto a sedici anni. E proprio a quella stessa età Sam conosce Alicia, con la quale è amore a prima vista, un amore simbiotico come se ne vivono solo a quell’età. Ma poi purtroppo, proprio quando – come succede solo a quell’età – il rapporto si sta ormai sfilacciando, Alicia scopre di essere incinta… Terrorizzato dal doverlo dire ai rispettivi genitori e distrutto dalla visione terribile di un futuro fatto di pannolini e incomprensioni matrimoniali – prospettatagli dal suo idolo che tra le altre mille qualità ha anche quella di far “viaggiare” il suo protetto nel futuro – , Sam sceglie la fuga ad Hastings. Ma questa fuga avrà breve durata…

    Is a funny story, nicely written. It is amazing the way the author use the language of teens. Not only the language, even the state of mind of a teenager, even a not very smart one!

    Is a funny story, nicely written. It is amazing the way the author use the language of teens. Not only the language, even the state of mind of a teenager, even a not very smart one!
    The story is easy to read and funny. I found myself laughting aloud a couple of times!
    The plot develops quickly, with ritm. And contains some good thoughts, hiddend between the lines. Proabbly the author hide himself in the voice of the the poster. But sure it leaves a lot to the intelligence of the reader, that automatically gets the message by following the negative examples: no condom, no sex; don't run away from responsibilities; don't listen to the voice of your mind, don't become hysteric in crisis situation and so on... definitely a nice read to relax on a sandy beach!
