這本書的訴求頗為有趣，專門收集有變成電視劇的偵探。編者是 Peter Haining，他也編過《Crime Movies》這類的選集。本書收集了32個短篇，而編者除了寫了一篇引言在第一章之外，在每個短篇故事的開頭，他也寫了一至二頁的介紹，雖說書名Television，但他連這個偵探何時首次登上舞台劇、變成廣播劇等等都有介紹，以及演過這個偵探的演員有哪些等等的。對於推理影像有興趣人，可以參考一下這本書，在我看來這位編者寫的介紹比收錄的小說還具吸引力。
